As well as the convenience of the location next to the city centre, hospital and universities, Little Woodhouse is full of heritage attractions. There are 40 listed buildings and structures, including two Grade II* (Denison Hall and The Priory in Springfield Mount) and the statue of Sir Peter Fairbairn, the first Lord Mayor of Leeds in Woodhouse Square
There is plenty of greenery to enjoy. There are two Georgian Squares and the Rosebank, a 5-acre natural green space, with a green network of quiet largely traffic free streets between them.
Housing in the area ranges from the grand merchant villas to Victorian terraces and post war estates, with more recently many purpose built student accommodation blocks in the south of the area.
The more commercial Burley and Kirkstall Roads are busy with traffic and visitors to bars, restaurants and hotels . There is a large media presence here as well as the visitor attraction of the ITV Emmerdale experience.
Burley Road has several restaurants and takeaways and the only traditional pub, The Fox and Newt. The area’s only remaining school, Rosebank Primary is also on Burley Road. The Local (shopping) Centre on Woodsley/Hyde Park Road joins Burley Road and as well as food shops and takeaways has the local medical centre, pharmacies, post office, community shop and the Grand Mosque.
